I first picked up a banjo at 21 after seeing Steve Martin play clawhammer in a video. I had no idea what I was doing, so I taught myself by ear, rewinding the same few seconds until my hands got it.

One tune led to another, and here we are. Fifteen years on and I've added Irish bouzouki and tenor guitar to the banjo.

Many of the tunes I cover here I learned from Macdara Ó Faoláin. He's been my teacher for a while now and I've come a long way with his help. If you want to go further than I can take you, Macdara teaches one to one online. There's a wealth of knowledge there and I'd recommend him without hesitation.

I'm still learning myself, and sharing it as I go seemed the natural thing to do. Almost everything I know came from people being generous enough to put what they know online, so this is my attempt at the same.
